A Chaotic June Kickoff

First post of June!
Let’s all pretend I didn’t just ghost y’all for a few more days after our trip to Sibu and Miri, okay? Cool, thanks.

So, here’s the deal: I was the designated driver, which means I literally drove all the way to Miri and then all the way back to Kuching. Queen of endurance? Maybe. Completely knackered? Absolutely. I slept like a rock for two full days afterward—my soul left my body and came back just in time for lunch.

Also, I got a minor case of “driver’s shoulder,” so I begged my mum for a shoulder massage (thank you, mum). Felt like a brand-new human after that.

Now, back to the trip! We went to four cities in this glorious sequence: Sarikei → Sibu → Bintulu → Miri. Apparently, there are more divisions in Sarawak, but these were the chosen ones. We only stayed overnight in Sibu and Miri—just passed by the others like mysterious NPC towns in an open-world game.

And now, drumroll please...
My favourite city? Without a doubt: Miri!

Why? First off, Miri was built along the coast, so the beach is basically your neighbor. A few minutes’ drive and boom—ocean. Salt in your hair, sand in your shoes, inner peace unlocked. We visited the legendary Grand Old Lady, Miri’s first drilled oil well (circa 1910!), standing tall at 30 meters. It's up on a high hill, and we had to drive all the way to the top—like a pilgrimage, but for sunsets.

And OMG, the sunset?
Miri sunsets don’t play around. People literally sit and wait for the sky to perform, and wow, she delivered. 10/10 would stare again.

The whole vibe in Miri is chill, peaceful, and beautifully slow-paced. Honestly, I’m seriously considering it as my future retirement spot. Give me a hammock and some iced tea, and I’m set.

As for Sibu, it’s known for two holy things: food and churches. Sadly, we didn’t get to try the most famous kampua stall, but even the “normal” kampua was delicious. Honestly, if that’s the average, I don’t think I’m ready for the elite version.

We also tried Dian Bian Hu—a dish made from rice cooked in cuttlefish soup. We didn’t go to the most famous stall, but the one we tried was… fine. I mean, it was decent, just not salty or flavourful enough for my MSG-addicted taste buds. It felt a bit like polite soup.

Fast forward to today—plot twist! I went to the government dental clinic to get my teeth cleaned. Now my teeth feel too clean. Like, they’re naked. I keep running my tongue over them and they’re just... smooth and vulnerable.

Also, I asked if I could get my wisdom teeth removed, and SURPRISE: two of them are hiding under the gums like shy introverts, so surgery it is! They gave me a referral to the General Hospital for a consultation on June 17, 2025.

The surgery? I’m maybe planning to have it done in October, because from June to September, I’m off to Tioman Island. So fingers crossed the dental gods are kind.
