Certified to Dive!

Another two weeks have flown by since my last update… and let me tell you, it’s been a ride! So much has happened in just 14 days that I’m honestly surprised I didn’t spontaneously combust from all the chaos.

Biggest news first: drumroll please… I officially got my diving license! Yep, your girl is now a certified Open Water diver, and I did it all in the first month of my 3-month working holiday. Who knew I'd level up this fast? Not me.

Since then, I’ve been bouncing around dive sites like a fish on a mission — Seafan, Malang, and Kador Bay in Tioman. We even visited Seafan twice, because why not?

Now, here’s a thought that hit me like a rogue wave — diving is totally like driving. The more you do it, the better you get. Except if you make a mistake while driving, you honk. If you mess up while diving, you… well, try not to float off like a lost balloon.

I still need to work on my posture underwater. Currently, I’m somewhere between elegant mermaid and awkward sea cucumber. Baby steps.

The person kind of supervising me — let’s call him V — said the best part of working at a dive shop is free dives. FREE. DIVES. Say no more, V. I shall dive until my fins fall off.

Now I’m toying with the idea of going for the Advanced Open Water license while I’m here. I mean, I’m already halfway to turning into a sea creature. Plus, I might get a staff discount, so yes please.

Anyway, my next off days are July 30–31. That’s when I might finally sit down, write more stuff, and also finally start on that motivation letter for my master's application. (It’s been haunting me like a ghost in a wetsuit.)

Until then, dive safe, breathe slow, and don’t forget to equalize.
See y’all soon!
