First Meeting
I’d say today was a lucky and kinda unusual day. I went to the nearest MRT station to grab lunch and suddenly had a craving for Mee Hoon Kueh. So, I ordered one with extra noodles to-go. It was supposed to be $5.10, and I only had a $10 bill on me, so I figured I’d just wait for the change.
But then, the cashier asked if I had 10 cents, probably because he didn’t have much change. Unfortunately, I didn’t. So he just smiled and said, "It's okay, I'll count it as $5 for you." It was just 10 cents, but honestly, that small gesture made me really happy.
Oh, and the Mee Hoon Kueh? It tasted way better than last time! Feels like the chef really leveled up their skills. Big thumbs up!

After lunch, I went to Bugis to meet my grandaunt. So, here’s the story—she's a local Singaporean artist and jewelry designer. My uncle, who now lives in Australia, owns some dZi beads that she personally designed and made. Unfortunately, some of them broke, so he asked me to bring them to her for repair.
I’ve always heard about this grandaunt from my aunts and my mom back home, but this was my first time meeting her in person. She and her late husband ran a shop called Art Gallery 3 at Bras Basah Complex, Bain St. Both of them were highly respected local artists.
Meeting her felt so special—she was just as warm and friendly as everyone had described. She has this unique aura that makes you feel instantly comfortable. We had a nice chat, and I updated her about our family back home, showing her pictures and introducing each family member. She also shared her journey of starting the art gallery, and I could really see her passion for it.
To my surprise, she gifted me some beautiful jewelry—bracelets and a necklace! She also told me how important it is to take good care of them so they last long. On top of that, she gave me books featuring her art and jewelry designs.
Overall, it was such a great experience, and I’m really looking forward to visiting her again. If you’re into art or dZi beads, you should definitely check out Art Gallery 3—I’m sure it’ll be worth it!
