My Master Plan

Happy Friday!

For the past two days, I’ve been binge-watching this new C-drama series, 难哄. It’s adapted from a novel, and fun fact—I actually finished reading the novel exactly a year ago in February. Now, you might be wondering, How on earth do I remember the exact month I read a book? Well, let me explain.

Last year, in February and March—right after Chinese New Year—I was working night shifts for the first time in my life. And let me tell you, after that experience, I finally understand why some people willingly choose to work night shifts permanently. If I had the option, I’d probably do it too. Why? Because night shifts mean fewer problems, no unnecessary people hovering around, and just pure, uninterrupted firefighting (metaphorically, of course—no actual fires were involved).

Anyway, back to the novel. Since my night shifts weren’t exactly packed with tasks, I needed something to keep myself from dozing off—not that I was sleepy, just incredibly bored. Reading novels was the perfect solution. I read 难哄 on my laptop, sneaking it into the fab and finding a nice little corner to hide and read. If you're wondering what a fab is—it’s a semiconductor manufacturing facility where I had to wear a bunny suit that made me look like I was about to take off for space, with only my eyes visible. Not as glamorous as it sounds. It wasn’t even hot inside, sometimes I was freezing.

miss this!

Honestly, I did enjoy working in the fab—on days when there was nothing to do and no troublesome tasks to deal with. But that’s work, right? It’s always a pain unless you genuinely love what you’re doing. Now, I kind of miss the fab life—chatting with all sorts of people about everything under the sun. But I made my choice to leave, so here I am, living with it.

That being said, I do enjoy my life now, and I’ve learned a lot—from some people (not all, let’s be real). Right now, my plan is to soak up as much knowledge as possible before I pack my bags for New Zealand. And speaking of leaving… my resignation is going to be a fun little surprise.

See, when I joined this company, the HR lady who recruited me specifically told me, "Just make sure you don’t resign after only a year." She said not a year—she didn’t say less than a year. Wink. So, when I submit my resignation letter in August, she’s probably going to be speechless.

As per my master plan, I’m set to resign on August 4th, 2025—exactly 163 days from today (yes, I’m counting). Fun fact: I’ve worked here for 166 days, but somehow, it feels like I’ve been here for five years. I’ve already experienced so much.

I do wish I had more time to explore Singapore, but let’s be real—when you work full-time, your weekends are sacred. They’re strictly reserved for lying in bed and recovering from the workweek. And even if you do muster the energy to go out, guess what? Everyone else has the same idea, because, well… it’s the weekend.

But! Once I resign, I’ll finally have time to properly explore Singapore. If I submit my resignation on August 4th and subtract my accumulated 10 days of annual leave, my last working day will likely be August 20th. And since my rental contract runs until September 4th, that gives me two whole weeks to wander around Singapore before I leave. Sounds like the perfect plan—no guarantee it’ll actually work, but hey, one can dream!

Oh, and before I go—I’m heading to JB tonight in exactly 45 minutes! That means no blog update tomorrow. I might update on Sunday… if I’m not too exhausted from all the fun.

Soooo, see ya!
