A Day at UTM
It's been a hot minute since I last roamed the halls of my alma mater, UTM, so it was really nice to stroll around and realize... not much had changed. (I guess some things really are built to last.)
The exam day started bright and early. I did Listening, Reading, and Writing all in one go from 9 AM until nearly 12 PM. My brain officially filed for overtime. Then came the Speaking test, which was supposed to be at 2:40 PM but got moved up by 10 minutes — because, you know, nothing spices up exam day like a little surprise rescheduling.
During the two-hour break, I wandered around my old faculty because it was just next door. The exam took place at the UTM Language Academy, and my beloved Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was basically its neighbor. Everything looked exactly the same — like a real-life time capsule. It was super quiet too since it was the weekend, and hardly any students were around. Ghost town vibes, but make it nostalgic.
Bonus moment: I spotted one of the lecturers who used to teach Japanese 1! He looked exactly the same — like he drank from the fountain of youth or something. I doubt he'd recognize me, though, because back then we had about three face-to-face classes before the pandemic yeeted us all into online learning. (It was either 2019 or 2020... time is a social construct anyway.)
As for the exam... fingers crossed I get the Band 6.5 I need. Otherwise, that's a very expensive way to humble myself. They said the results will be out in a few days, so the suspense is building.
Anyway, tomorrow's Monday (yay...?), but it feels weird — maybe because the countdown has begun ever since I resigned. Good news though: it's a public holiday on Thursday, so it's a 4-day workweek! Bless.
