Lazy Saturday Chronicles
It’s a lazy Saturday because I made the executive decision to stay home all day—self-care or self-imposed house arrest? You decide.
I cleaned my room, washed my bedsheets and blankets (adulting level: unlocked), and vacuumed the floor three or four times just to make sure there were no sneaky hairs lurking around. Spoiler alert: as I’m typing this, I can already see some of them making a comeback. Apparently, my floor is running a secret hair salon. So once I’m done typing, guess what? Yup. Time to vacuum the freaking floor again. For the fifth time. It's a battle between me and the strands of doom now.
Oh, and get this—I took an IELTS Listening Mock Test on the IRP website just for fun (yes, fun is now a test apparently), and to my surprise, I scored a Band 8.5. I know, right? Who knew my ears were this powerful?
But here’s the funny part: my Speaking score was tragic. Like, Shakespearean-tragedy level tragic. The band scores between Listening and Speaking are living in completely different tax brackets. To be fair, the Speaking part was graded by AI, so I’m not sure if I was talking to an English teacher or a confused toaster.
I also realized I use way too many filler words like um, uh, and hmm when I speak—basically, my mouth’s holding a loading screen while my brain translates from my mother tongue. It's like watching a buffering video in real life.
Anyway, I really need to work on my speaking. I want to at least sound like I know what I’m doing before the real exam. So tomorrow will be a full-on Speaking Practice Day. But first, I’m going to try one more mock test tonight... after I vacuum. Again. Send help.
