A Milestone
Can y’all believe this is already the 125th post on this blog??? Like, what?! That means just 25 more and I’ll hit 150 posts. Wild. These are the kinds of numbers I never imagined when I first started writing. Honestly, I thought I’d cap it at 20 posts max and then abandon ship like every other random hobby I’ve picked up. But nope—I kept going, kept oversharing, and here we are. I write almost every day… except on those JB weekends when I forget my laptop and end up staring at the ceiling, regretting life decisions.
This weekend though? I’m staying put in Singapore. I need some quality time with myself (and my IELTS prep). But two weeks from now—during the Good Friday weekend—I’ll be heading to KL!
So here’s the deal: my friend XT, her boyfriend KM (who also just so happens to be my uni coursemate—plot twist), and I will be taking a bus from Singapore to KL. Yep, it's one of those group dynamics. Ever heard that TikTok audio:
“It’s finally me and you… and you and me… and your friend Steve… dududududududu Steve…”
Anyway, I think the last time I actually went to KL (excluding that one time I just passed through the airport en route to Hong Kong) was back in 2023 for Eric Chou’s concert—also with the same two friends. So technically, I've been “Steve-ing” since 2023. What an achievement. Somebody give me a medal.
KL, to me, is basically childhood travel central. Back in the day, school holidays = KL trip, like clockwork. My mum would take us there without fail. She and my dad both studied at University of Malaya—only the best university in Malaysia, no big deal. Now that I’m older (and slightly wiser), I finally get why she always looked stressed planning those trips. She was covering everything—flights, hotels, transport, food, shopping sprees, and the occasional meltdown over where to eat.
It’s funny, though. When you’re a kid, you’ve got all the time in the world to travel, but zero money. Now that we’re adults, we (sort of) have the money, but not a second to spare. Life really said, “You can’t have both, babe.”
And you know what? That’s just how life goes. No one’s waiting around for you to catch up. Everyone’s out here living their own story. So might as well focus on yours—and live the heck out of it.
