Remembering Pak Lah
Okay, I’m just living my life today. Woke up at 10 a.m. and went out for lunch on my own—but guess what? I bumped into my friend K! And her colleague WL, too. The last time I saw WL was on my second day of work, which was more than half a year ago. OMG.
Also, I finally got to buy Shih Lin Chicken after craving it since last week. It tasted so good, but the only downside? The XXXL size wasn’t enough for me. If they ever come out with an XXXXXXXXL size, I’d 100% go for it.
Came home, did my laundry, and just casually lay on my bed until almost 6:30 p.m. Then I took a shower and cut myself some fruit for dinner. And now, here I am—writing today’s blog post.
Just a heads-up: I’ll probably disappear for the next three days and might return on Sunday night or Monday, because your girl is going on a trip to KL!
Also, I’ve been meaning to say something that’s been on my mind these past few days. Do you ever get a feeling about certain people—like just from the way they look or behave, you know they’re a good person? I get that a lot, and most of the time, those people really do turn out to be genuinely kind.
That was exactly how I felt when I first learned about our fifth Prime Minister of Malaysia, the late Pak Lah, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, also known as Bapa Pembangunan Modal Insan. My mum’s a history teacher, so we grew up hearing lots of stories about Malaysian history. She always says her salary wouldn’t have reached what it is today if it weren’t for Pak Lah. He was someone who truly put the nation first, above everything else. And under his leadership, we also had much greater freedom of speech—something that really stood out and meant a lot to many Malaysians.
May you rest in peace, Pak Lah.
