A Tale of Biryani

Hi guys!
I am currently a very happy (and very full) girl because I’m still emotionally recovering from our glorious free lunch today.

The lunch was held to honor employees who have stayed loyal to the company for a loooong time—like, 10, 15, 20, even 25 years. Honestly, I can't even commit to a phone wallpaper for that long, so major respect to them. Either they really love the place or they've just mastered the art of inner peace at work. Zen masters in corporate form.

Anyway, we went to a restaurant at FairPrice Hub—an Indian place called Nandhana’s. Now, my knowledge of Indian cuisine is embarrassingly limited to roti canai and cheese naan, so I walked in like a clueless foodie explorer.

Today’s adventure: Mutton Dum Biryani.
Let me tell you, the portion was massive—like, “feed-a-small-army” massive. I managed to eat 90% of it, so shoutout to me for the effort.

As the name suggests, it came with mutton (thankfully not mutant), and surprise! There was a hard-boiled egg hiding under the mountain of rice like it was playing hide and seek. They also gave us a bowl of curry (bless), and what they called coleslaw—but it was basically onions and mayo trying to act fancy.

Now, let’s talk drinks. I ordered salt lassi thinking, “It might be sweet, right?”
Plot twist: Nope. It was salty. Like, ocean salty. My taste buds were confused but polite. I definitely should’ve gone for the sweet lassi, rookie mistake.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, lassi is a yogurt-based drink from India. Refreshing, mysterious, and apparently available in savory betrayal flavor.

Now… the only slightly traumatic part: we found a tiny cockroach on the table.
Yes, I screamed inside. But someone said, “That’s normal in India,” and I—being the hungry, resilient woman I am—chose to ignore it and continue eating. I mean, the roach didn’t touch my biryani, right? Priorities.

And since it’s Friday, I’ll be heading to JB in about 30 minutes—so expect me to vanish for two days like a magician on holiday. Wait for my grand return on Sunday or Monday, depending on how much food, shopping, and chaos I encounter.

Ciao for now!
