幸福
Today, I had a farewell lunch with my colleagues from Department P (P for parting is such sweet sorrow), and we dined at Uncle Leong Seafood at FairPrice Hub. The food? Chef’s kiss. But the real dish of the day? The conversation.
My supervisor joined the lunch too, and guess what? He had to foot the bill. Not voluntarily, mind you—it’s apparently a sacred company law: the person with the highest rank must pay. I know, sounds like it was written by a bunch of hungry interns. But hey, we’re just loyal peasants following the law.
Anyway, I’d been thinking about asking my Form 6 classmates out for lunch or dinner for weeks. Thinking, not doing. Classic me. But today, I finally mustered up the courage and texted one of them about a last-minute dinner… like tonight kind of last-minute. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting a miracle. But BAM—plot twist—all of them just so happened to be in Singapore! Some had literally just returned yesterday or last week. The timing? Immaculate. The universe really said, “You get a reunion!”
Seven out of eight of us actually studied at the same university, so it was super heartwarming to see everyone again. Adulting is tough, but watching us all living our lives (semi-functionally!) and catching up like no time had passed—it was a happy little slice of life.
Oh! And my good friend K, who works near my company, just came back from Taiwan recently. She gave me the cutest Snoopy omamori (幸福御守) which means "happiness charm." I mean, if that doesn't scream "anime happy ending credits," I don’t know what does.
So here's my wish: may we all be as happy as Snoopy dancing in the wind, and may all our dreams come true—preferably the cool ones and not the ones where we’re late for an exam we forgot to study for.
I’ll definitely be seeing them again sometime soon. Until then, unemployment awaits!
