Goodbye Singapore!

Today was basically my last full day in Singapore, so I went on a very serious mission: to hunt down the food I’ve been craving. I saw Tracy's Sarawak Kitchen on XiaoHongShu and thought, “Yep, that’s the one.” Naturally, I went for the most hyped branch — the one in Aljunied.

But guess what I didn’t do? That’s right. I didn’t check the operating hours. And guess what day it is today? Monday. Guess what’s closed on Mondays? TRACY’S. Yay me! Cue slow clapping ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

So there I was, having wasted precious time and brain cells riding the MRT all the way from Pioneer to Aljunied. But wait — plot twist! I remembered there’s another branch in Yew Tee. So I pivoted like a true MRT warrior.

Before heading there, I made a quick stop at CIMB Bank at Raffles Place to ask about switching my number to an overseas one. The staff were surprisingly efficient (bless them), and I was in and out like a bank ninja.

Then I hopped on the red line and made my grand journey to Yew Tee. Everything was fine until Kranji station, where I nearly passed out. Why? Because the air was filled with a stench so intense, I genuinely thought a giant invisible poop monster had joined the ride. Thankfully, it was only one station of suffering. God is real.

When I was finally at Yew Tee, about to exit the train, tragedy struck. A woman in front of me dropped her plastic bag of Jollibee chicken. Two pieces of crispy, golden joy hit the ground like fallen soldiers. RIP, fried chicken. Gone too soon.

Anyway, I made it to Yew Tee Point and walked around like a lost child twice before I finally found Tracy’s Sarawak Kitchen hiding in the food court. I ordered the Sarawak Laksa — and okay, was it life-changing? No. But did it taste 60% like the real Kuching deal? Yes. As a Kuching native, I hereby approve this bowl.

Post-laksa happiness activated, I rode another bus to the DBS in the Choa Chu Kang area to sort out the same number-changing thing. Again, it was fast, although the staff had the vibe of “I hate my job, please leave.” I respected that.

Then I walked to CCK station, rode the MRT back to Boon Lay, and ended up at Jurong Point. Feeling fancy, I ordered a Large Mr. Coconut via Grab with a 20% discount (because I’m financially responsible). It came down to $5.76 instead of $6. Small win, but I’ll take it. #CouponQueen

Next stop: Singtel. I asked them how to terminate my prepaid plan. Their advice? “Just let it die.” Cool. Dramatic, but okay.

After a whole day of running around like Dora the Explorer on caffeine, I finally went home, crashed, and woke up at 5:30 PM. Later, I met my friends at Vision Exchange for dinner. As usual, we just gossiped about anything and everything — the good old therapy session disguised as a meal.

It was genuinely heartwarming to see everyone, knowing I won’t get to do this again anytime soon. I tried to burn every face and every laugh into memory like a mental Polaroid.

Until next time, Singapore.
