Saying No Never Felt So Glorious

A few minutes ago, I was locked in an intense battle—with myself—about whether I should update my blog today. It was a dramatic showdown: Discipline vs. Laziness. Guess what? Discipline threw the final punch and won. So yes, I consider today a very productive day. Cue the slow clap.

Last night, I had this random craving for lao po ping from Bau. I told myself, “Tomorrow, I’m getting that glorious pastry, no matter what.” So when I woke up today, I was on a mission. My dad decided to tag along too—probably also motivated by snacks. Together, we set off like two food-hunting warriors.

We successfully secured 15 pieces of lao po ping. Victory tastes sweet—and flaky! After that, we spontaneously took a little tour around the famous Tasik Biru. It’s supposed to be a blue lake, but honestly, it looked more emerald green to me. Not complaining—it was gorgeous. I took some photos, and we headed home, stomachs and souls satisfied.

Then came another mission: Operation: Facial Session. I remembered I still had one session left at this facial centre. But I also knew—deep in my soul—that they were going to try to sell me another package. And guess what? I was right. They came at me with smiles and persuasive words sharper than any exfoliant.

But this time… I stood my ground. Like a skincare samurai, I said NO. Politely, of course. The feeling afterward was incredible—like I had just repaid a karmic debt. My mum, on the other hand, wasn’t so lucky. She also went recently… and signed up for another package. Again. Probably her second… or third time?

So I swear, from now on, no more packages. This stuff is like borrowing money from a bank—you think it’s just one small commitment, and next thing you know, you’re stuck in an endless hole of facials and regret.
