A Twist of Positivity
Today is a day for some self-reflection. Let me confess something: I have a habit of stalking... myself. Yes, you read that right. I’m my own biggest fan and most dedicated stalker. Why do I say this? Because I constantly look back at my life as if I’m watching a documentary about me. For example, if I write a blog post, I’ll go back and read it, marveling at my own “genius.” Post a picture on Instagram? Oh, you know I’ll revisit it, admiring my work like it’s a prized exhibit at an art gallery. This, my friends, is what I call "self-stalking."
Recently, during one of these self-stalking moments, I noticed something troubling in my past blog posts: I’ve been a bit of a downer. My posts read like the diary of someone trying to find the dark cloud in every silver lining. If I went to an event, instead of talking about the fun parts, I’d focus on the bad coffee or the long lines. Basically, if anyone read my posts, they’d think my life is a never-ending episode of complaints. But the truth is, there’s plenty of good stuff—I just wasn’t writing about it.
So, I’ve decided it’s time for a change. From now on, I’ll still pour out all my thoughts (because that’s just who I am), but I’ll also make it a point to include at least one thing that made me happy each day. Call it my new blogging rule: vent, but leave a little sunshine at the end.
Speaking of sunshine, here’s my happy moment for today: my manager isn’t here. He’s been on annual leave since last Friday, and honestly, it feels like a weight has been lifted. Without him around, it’s like the school principal decided to skip class. No nagging, no micromanaging, no unsolicited advice about “the right way” to do things (which, by the way, is often not the right way). I’ve realized I work much better without him hovering around. So, dear boss, if you’re reading this: please consider extending your vacation. Work feels wonderfully peaceful without you.
