Morning Routine

18 days left until I fly home! Honestly, I sat down today thinking about what to write, but… my mind is still a blank slate. I wish I could be one of those people who always have fascinating stories or moments to share, but my days are pretty uneventful. So instead, let me share my consistent (and somewhat boring) daily routine with you all.

Ever since December, I’ve been waking up at 6:45 AM every weekday. Weekends are an exception—I don’t set alarms because I love sleeping until I naturally wake up. (Who doesn’t?!)

Now, you might ask: “Why start waking up at 6:45 AM all of a sudden?” The story is simple—I wanted to make time to cook an egg for breakfast! Before December, I used to roll out of bed at 7:00 AM and just grab a packet of biscuits. But after some lectures from my doctor and my mom (yes, double trouble), I realized how important it is to eat fresh, real food instead of processed snacks.

So here’s how my mornings go now:
At 6:45 AM, my alarm goes off. I get up, head to the kitchen, and start boiling water. By 6:50 AM, the water is bubbling, and I pop an egg into the pot, setting a timer for six minutes. When the timer beeps at 6:56 AM, I turn off the stove and let the egg cool down under the pot cover.

While the egg chills, I grab my towel and clothes and head for a shower. By the time I’m done, it’s around 7:12 to 7:15 AM. Back in my room, I start my post-shower routine—applying skincare, drying my hair, and picking an outfit (even though I wear T-shirts and jeans daily, I like to make sure the colors match!). By 7:34 to 7:36 AM, I’m ready to face the day.

Then it’s back to the kitchen! I peel the egg, wash the pot, and grab my shaker bottle (I’m too lazy to use a separate bowl). I plop the egg onto the shaker’s lid, scoop a spoonful of Melilea supplement powder (thanks, Mom!), mix it with 350ml of water, and shake it up. Voilà! Breakfast is served: one hard-boiled egg and a glass of Melilea.

By 7:43 to 7:45 AM, breakfast is done, and it’s time for… a quick nap. Yes, I go back to bed! I set another alarm for 8:03 AM to avoid oversleeping. Why 8:03? It’s the perfect timing to get to my office by 8:30 AM sharp.

Now, here’s something I’m proud of: I only use two alarms—6:45 AM and 8:03 AM. I know some people need alarms going off every five minutes for half an hour, but not me. Once my alarm rings, I’m up and moving.

At 8:03 AM, I put on my socks, grab my earphones, and play some music as I head out. By 8:07 AM, I’m on my way to the MRT station. When I tap into the MRT, it’s usually 8:16 to 8:19 AM, and my ride to the office station is exactly seven minutes (shoutout to SimplyGo for keeping track!).

After getting off the MRT, I walk a bit more and cross a road to reach my company, usually by 8:30 AM, give or take two minutes.

And that’s my morning routine since starting work in Singapore! Nothing fancy, but it’s consistent and gets the job done.

Maybe I’ll share the rest of my daily routine another time since this one’s already pretty long. For now, that’s all from me! See y’all again next time!

I came across this in XHS and it hit me hard!
