Life’s Little Frustrations
13 more days until I go home! As I was reflecting on what happy thing I should share today, a lucky moment came to mind. Ever since last week, it has been raining non-stop in Singapore. Though there were brief breaks of about 2 to 3 hours, the sky mostly stayed dark and gloomy.
Today, however, I got lucky. When I stepped out of my room, it was on the verge of raining—but it didn’t. I managed to reach my company just in time, and the rain only started after I arrived. I call that luck because, if it had rained earlier, my morning would have been completely different.
Here’s why: I would have had to wear slippers to walk to the office to avoid soaking my shoes. Once at the office, I’d need to change into proper shoes since it’s a production area where covered footwear is mandatory for safety. And let’s not even talk about rainy days—no matter how good your umbrella is, you still end up getting wet. Raindrops have this magical ability to fly at you from every direction and angle.
On top of that, I have mild migraines, and if raindrops touch my head, it’s almost guaranteed to ruin my day. That’s why, for me, rainy days are best spent at home, where it’s cozy and comforting to listen to the soothing sound of rain hitting the ground. But stepping out during a rainy day? That’s an absolute no-go.
Another happy thing today is definitely being able to come home and enjoy my bakkwa. But it’s a bit bittersweet because, as I’m writing this, there’s only one piece left. I’ll definitely eat it later, but that means no more bakkwa starting tomorrow—at least not until I’m back home for Chinese New Year.
Speaking of food, my lunch today was pretty special. As usual, I had one meat, one vegetable, and one tofu dish. The tofu was Japanese-style—long tofu fried first, then cooked in a sauce with enoki mushrooms. By the way, I love enoki mushrooms! I always eat them as if they were noodles.
The vegetable today was curry-style, and I have to give a big compliment to the chef in our cafeteria. Whoever they are, they make an incredible curry. The aroma was so good that I felt like I could eat an entire pot of it with just plain white rice. Honestly, plain white rice with any sauce is such a perfect combo—it’s simple, comforting, and delicious.

Anyway, tomorrow is finally the day I’ll be presenting an issue to the teams. The team I’m referring to includes a lot of people—engineers from other departments and even my company’s director. I’d like to think I’ll only feel nervous about five minutes before my presentation, but as I’m writing this, I can already feel that uneasy sensation in my stomach. I usually call it the "nervous feeling."
Sigh Where can I find a job with no human interaction and zero presentations? I’m honestly feeling a bit fed up with all these time-wasting meetings and presentations—they just keep me from getting my actual work done.
Please wish me luck and pray that they don’t hit me with tough questions tomorrow. God bless.
