Mysterious Hiring
Lunch: 2.10 SGD
For the first time in weeks, I genuinely have no idea what to write today. My brain is fried. I’ve been so busy that I can’t even remember what I did that made me this busy. Productivity? Chaos? Who knows.
But one thing I do remember—because it was too random to forget—was a team leader from another department suddenly asking me today, “Eh, you dah tender?” (in Malay, because, well, he’s Malay).
And I was like, “What??? Who said that? Belum lagi la...”
Then he went, “Oh, sebab I tengok ada job posting for a new engineer in your department.”
And that’s when it hit me. Wait a minute—I saw that job posting too. They’re hiring for a senior engineer in my department. Which leads me to a wild theory: my supervisor might have already resigned. The chances? Maybe 10%. But hey, 10% is still something.
Here’s the thing—there are only four seats in our department. If they’re hiring another person, where is this mysterious new engineer supposed to sit? Unless... someone is leaving. Plot twist? Maybe. Office drama? Absolutely.
Anyway, whether we’re getting a new member or replacing an old one, soon this won’t be my problem anymore. Counting down: 26 days until I officially resign.
But wait—26 days is just my resignation date. I still have to serve a whole month of notice before I can finally be free from Singapore.
Don’t get me wrong, Singapore is a great place. But for someone like me, who constantly feels trapped, it’s just not it. My brother, on the other hand? He’s thriving here. Well, mostly. He still complains about stress now and then, so maybe Singapore isn’t perfect for anyone.
That being said, it’s definitely a great place to visit—just maybe not to live in (if you’re me).
