Work-Life Scam

Lunch: 2.50 SGD
Dinner: 15.80 SGD

Finally, it's Friday… Do you know how hard it is to stay awake for an entire week just to reach the weekend, only for the weekend to speed by like a Formula 1 race? It’s NOT fair. Why can’t we have 3.5 days of work and 3.5 days of rest? That’s the only true work-life balance.

Think about it—we work 9 hours a day, 5 days a week. Some people even work 6 days. That means the time we actually have for life is way less than our working hours. And I guarantee that more than 60% of people in the world don’t even like their jobs. I’m sure of it. Someone, please conduct a proper study on this—I need to prove my point.

Now, if you’re spending 5 days a week, 9 hours a day, doing something you don’t like, how can you be truly happy? That’s why so many people just accept reality and work for money, for stability. Because that’s the so-called normal human path. But sometimes, I wonder—are people really living their lives? Are they enjoying it? Or are they just barely surviving, working just to eat and exist? At that point, they’re basically walking, talking ATM machines—completely drained, just spitting out money to pay for rent and food.

We might never know the real purpose of life, but maybe that’s exactly the point. Maybe life is just one big trial-and-error experiment. We’re here to try different things, make mistakes, and learn from them. And since we never know when our time will be up, we might as well live like tomorrow is our last day—enjoy the moment and appreciate what we have now.

Anyway, back to my dinner. I spent 15.80 SGD today because I ordered through GrabFood (yes, extra charges sigh). Why delivery? you might ask. Well, when I left my company at 5:30 PM, the sky randomly decided to open the floodgates. No warning, no mercy. I ended up soaking the bottom of my pants just getting home. So yeah, delivery was necessary.

And let me tell you—Popeyes did NOT disappoint. The juice from that fried chicken? Chef’s kiss! I once ranked fried chicken in Singapore in one of my posts, and Popeyes is still standing strong at #1. Some things just never change.
